Welcome to HealthLinx Limited
HealthLinx is an emerging biomarker and diagnostic company with
an integrated platform in biomarker and bioactive peptide discovery
platforms. Our core focus is on the development of novel blood
based diagnostics for targeted diseases that have un-met market
need.
Clinical practice and public health are moving from generic,
episodic treatment approaches towards personalised and preventive
medicine. The trend in the pharmaceutical industry is towards
developing better and earlier diagnostics and disease-targeted
therapies. Food companies are also directing focus to functional
foods as a means of improving community health. These market trends
converge and are aligned with HealthLinx’s vision and mission.
HealthLinx will be recognised as a
leader in delivering diagnostic applications to improve health
outcomes.
HealthLinx develops novel, non-invasive, serum-based, diagnostic
products. The Ovarian Cancer Program has completed a phase II
biomarker trial with the outcome being the development of the first
generation ovarian cancer diagnostic, OvPlex™.
OvPlex™ is a panel of five markers including the gold standard
CA125. The trial screened 150 diseased samples and 212 normal
samples. Statistical significance was achieved demonstrating
OvPlex™ is a better performing diagnostic than CA125 as intrepreted
by an independent biostatistician.
The company released OvPlex™ in the Australian market in October
2008 through its distribution partner, ARL Pathology (now
Healthscope), as an elective test. OvPlex™ was released in the
United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland in February 2010 through
distribution partner Intus Healthcare and is on-sold by Spire
Healthcare.

Unlike the therapeutics’ market, where it can
take up to 15 years and US$1billion to get a drug from discovery to
the market, a diagnostic will usually take less than a third of
that time and less than 10% of the cost.
