CLEAR IT™

Protein Depletion Technologies

 

ClearIT™ is a flexible approach to protein depletion and recovery for serum/plasma and other biological fluids developed and patented by HealthLinx. The technology consists of immunoglobulins isolated from avian egg yolk (IgY) raised against specific sets of proteins. The combination of different IgY fractions from chickens immunised with specific sets of protein antigens facilitates specific depletion (and recovery) of proteins prior to separation and analysis. Using ClearIT™, researchers can now become far more targeted and focused by targeting specific sets of proteins with specific applications in life sciences.

ClearIT™ facilitates the production of both single-use disposable and multiple use columns that are cost-effective. This technology is protected by patent applications that are in different national phases in Australia, US, Canada and Japan, with the patent recently granted in Europe. The use of IgY preparations offers several advantages including relatively low cost of production, flexibility of production scale and product development. Furthermore, immunoglobulins derived from multiple antigen immunisations can be combined to deplete certain combinations of antigens. 

 

Therefore, ClearIT™ provides unique flexibility in matching different combinations of affinity reagents more cost-effectively for selective depletion of desired proteins against different applications:

 

  • Custom combinations of IgY matrices can be developed for a variety of applications such as 2D gel electrophoresis, liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometry;
  • The technology has application across a variety of biological samples such as serum/plasma, CSF, urine, lung lavage, and other biological fluids;
  • All biological samples have different relative ratios of abundant proteins, demanding the generation of specific protein depletion/enrichment strategies to accommodate particular research needs.

 

ClearIT™ has the capacity to meet this demand and provide customised depletion technologies for specific applications, including samples from different biological species. ClearIT™ can be combined with other depletion products such as those that are based on dye affinity (Cibacron blue) or single antigen specific monoclonal antibodies.
